The effects of local television channels on social life cannot be ignored. Local TV are still the most reliable news sources for most people. Those who want to be aware of the weather conditions, those who care about the traffic congestion, those who are curious about what is happening in their comunity become regular viewers of local TV.

So, which local TV channels do people watch in San Diego? Which channel most liked and trusted?
We will determine the top ten tv stations of san diego with your votes and comments here. Our voting will continue until December 31, 2021.

#1 FOX 5 San Diego (KSWB-TV)

FOX 5 San Diego (KSWB-TV) is the local FOX network TV station serving San Diego television viewers  with news, entertainment, sports and more.

Broadcasting locally in high definition on digital TV channel 69.1 and cable channels 705 and 5, the station is known by the call letters KSWB. Their signal began broadcasting in San Diego on September 30, 1985. The station started broadcasting as FOX 5 San Diego on August 1, 2008.

Today FOX 5 San Diego produces 11 ½ hours of local news every weekday, and another 4 ½ hours each weekend, all of it in high definition. Additionally, the station carries programming from “Antenna TV,” “Ion Television” and “Court TV” on their digital sub channels and operates FOX 5 San Diego branded online, mobile and social platforms.

KNSD, virtual channel 39 (UHF digital channel 17), is an NBC owned-and-operated television station licensed to San Diego, California, United States. Owned by the NBC Owned Television Stations subsidiary of NBCUniversal (itself a subsidiary of Comcast), it is sister to Poway-licensed Telemundo owned-and-operated station KUAN-LD (channel 48). The two stations share studios on Granite Ridge Drive in the Serra Mesa section of San Diego and transmitter facilities southeast of Spring Valley.

KNSD's on-air branding, NBC 7 San Diego, is derived from its cable channel position in the market on Spectrum, Cox Communications and AT&T U-verse. The station is also available on channel 39 on satellite providers DirecTV and Dish Network.

KPBS, virtual channel 15 (UHF digital channel 19), is a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) member television station licensed to San Diego, California, United States. Owned by San Diego State University as part of KPBS Public Media, it is a sister station to National Public Radio (NPR) member KPBS-FM (89.5). The two outlets share studios on the SDSU campus on Campanile Drive in San Diego. The TV station's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain in southwestern San Diego County.

On cable, KPBS is available in standard definition on Cox Communications, Spectrum and AT&T U-verse channel 11 and Cablemás channel 146. It is also carried in high-definition on Cox digital channel 1011, Spectrum digital channel 711, AT&T U-verse channel 1011 and Izzi Baja California digital channel 93. The only time KPBS' over-the-air channel 15 placement is mentioned at all is during the rare times the station signs on or off.

KGTV operates digital translator KZSD-LD (channel 20), which allows homes with issues receiving KGTV's VHF signal or only a UHF antenna to receive KGTV in some form.

iTV Cable 16 is a local educational-access television cable TV channel based in San Diego, California, United States. It is operated by the California Department of Education through the San Diego County Office of Education. It is broadcast from its own master control facility and distributed on San Diego area Cox and Spectrum systems on channel 16.

The channel was originally launched in 1993 and its programming has changed throughout the years. Current programs include First Vote, Math2Success, Ethical, and monthly live coverage of the San Diego County Board of Education meetings. iTV Cable 16 is also known for its broadcasts of the Academic League student knowledge competitions. All of these programs relate to education and issues affecting the educational community.

iTV splits its airtime with Palomar College Television.

AWE (A Wealth of Entertainment; formerly Wealth TV) is a United States-based lifestyle and entertainment cable network. Privately held by Herring Networks, Inc., the network operates several domestic and international television feeds while its primary production facilities and corporate headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is on numerous providers including DirecTV,Verizon FiOS, and AT&T U-Verse.

AWE debuted in 2004. It has received regional Emmys for its production efforts. Its in-house production facilities include two studios, 14 HD editing bays, and a master control operations facility with satellite uplink and downlink capabilities.

AWE network operates a 24/7 channel domestically as well as an international feed with alternate programming in which it owns the worldwide rights. Despite KUAN-LD legally holding a low-power license, it transmits using KNSD's full-power spectrum. This ensures complete reception across the San Diego television market.

KUAN is known on-air as Telemundo 20; as with KNSD's main branding, it is derived from its channel 20 cable position on Spectrum, Cox Communications and AT&T U-verse.
